As I told The Valley Family this morning, it was a great getting-up-morning! We welcomed new employees today during our Faculty & Staff Institute. I was honored to reveal the new “MVSU Executive Cabinet” and introduce our new administrators and reveal the new MVSU Organization Chart.
Great things are happening at The Valley and I want to ensure that you are kept informed. As I stated in October and again in January, transparency, integrity and honesty are words to live by. Please take a look at my State of the University Address. You can see it, the organization chart and today’s PowerPoint by going to www.mvsu.edu.
We have our new students on campus and you can see them touring the likes of the new Science & Technology Building and learning their way around our beautifully-landscaped grounds. It’s hot, but we’re green here in many, many ways! Won’t you come see? Registration gets under way this week. There are countless opportunities, including our Renaissance Learning Program for Adult Learners. Need more info? Call us at 1.800.GO2MVSU.
By the way, we had a “funeral” of sorts for the catchphrase “that’s just Valley.” Read my speech to learn when it can be used in the future!
It’s a great day at The Valley!

Hi Dr. Oliver,
The Faculty/Staff Institute was a great success on yesterday, and I thank you for your much-needed informative and motivational university address.
I also want to thank you for the funeral which was held for the negative twin of “that’s just the Valley.” I must say that this was the first funeral I have ever attended and enjoyed. (smile) The negative twin will not be missed;in fact, I’m very glad it’s been buried six feet under where it belongs.(smile)
Dr. Oliver, I pray God continue to bless you and MVSU!
Comment by Joyce Roundtree-McCoy August 18, 2009 @ 18:10Dr Oliver, I am so excited about things that are happening to our school. I salute you in your efforts to change the negativity and I think you are the person who can do it. I road around campus yesterday just to see what visible changes have been made since May. I am proud of my education and MVSU.
Comment by Pam August 19, 2009 @ 13:50Beautiful look to the MVSU website and campus. I can’t wait to get back to the Delta and complete my Valley experience. Wish I had been there to attend the “funeral” of “that’s just Valley” – but I’m thankful for a new day!
